Francesco Paolo Tosti was born on April 9 1846 in Ortona Italy. As a child he took violin lessons and by the age of 12 had been accepted into the Naples Conservatory. In 1870 he made his way to Rome where he served in the court of the Princess Margherita of Savoy, the future queen of Italy. In Rome he was accepted into the most fashionable salons of the time, making a name for himself as a composer and as a singing teacher. More Info
