Concert Recording - Sound (CDs)

We are pleased to offer our fixed price package which is specifically designed for soloists, ensembles, orchestras, composers, agents and concert promoters who wish to have a CD/broadcast quality archive recording of a live performance for private use.

In the case of such recordings, it is essential that permission be given by all the participants in advance of the performance. Please note that any copyright fees, royalties, permissions etc. are the sole responsibility of the client as is obtaining of consents and the payment of fees if required.

If you wish, an edited down version of the concert can be made at a latter stage. This will enable you to select up to 80 minutes of material (enough to fit on to one CDR-Compact Disc Recordable). We normally remove unwanted noise and applause where possible, but include a fading applause at the end of the disc. In order to produce copies of this version you will require an Edited Concert Production Master containing track IDs and PQ subcodes, together with our CDR Production service.

Our fixed price package covers the complete recording of the performance to a digital master and the supply of up to Five printed sets of Un-edited CDR copies to the client within 21 days.

All our recordings are made for high resolution Blu-ray audio for an unbeatable sound!

Concert Recording - Video (DVD/Blu-ray)

This service offers Five Sets of finished promotional DVD's/Blu-rays with a high quality sound track derived from our professional Nagra HR recorder using 'matched stereo' AKG microphones balanced for artists near the stage.

Although these video recordings are intended only as a reference of the performance, they are however 'tidied up' to present a finished promotional tool. The finished DVD's/Blu-rays are complete with artist's promotional information (web address, agent's details, etc.), track and basic music details, external shots of the concert hall.

We use a professional camera which is usually sited in one position to give an overall shot of the concert. The operator will take instructions from the client as to any preferential view or position, otherwise the operator will use their own artistic judgement as to the best views, which in some cases may be restricted by the live conditions and limitations of the concert hall.

* For Multi camera productions with time code and vision mixer see ISR-06.

The fixed price package covers the complete recording and the supply of Five Sets of transferred un-edited DVDs or Blu-ray's (up to 60 + 60 minutes each disc) normally delivered within 21 days.

The high quality sound track is derived from our professional Nagra HR recorder using 'matched stereo' AKG microphones balanced for artists near the stage.

Digital Location Recording

Location Recording allows the use of venues, which are known, for their acoustic properties and suitability for the music being performed. Location Recording also offers a flexible solution for Demonstration recordings when coupled with our editing and CDR production facilities.

Purpose built recording studios with artificial reverberation, mixers and multi-miking do have their place in the recording of music but using a natural surrounding with natural reverberation and the correct placement of the microphone is the only solution to achieving a more natural overall sound.

As the venue is obviously a valuable ingredient in the recording, we will be happy to advise you about the right acoustic for your particular project and will gladly demonstrate a variety of possibilities available from our range of recordings made at different venues.

Demonstration Recording

Over the years we have been responsible for helping to establish some of today's top artists in the classical world.

With the same care and expertise, we are able to produce a professionally presented CD to suit your budget and without compromise.

We can help select a suitable acoustic, venue, producer and organise a two or three hour session, which is normally enough time to provide between 20 to 30 minutes of finished music.

The booklet design can include a black and white photograph with a short biography. Each inlay card is printed with full track details and contact information.

Please note that any copyright fees, royalties, permissions etc. are the sole responsibility of the client as is obtaining of consents and the payment of fees if required.

Instrument Hire

We can arrange to accompany a recording artist to Steinway Hall in London, in order to help advise on a suitable recording instrument given the repertoire and venue chosen. Together with the personal preference of the artist this approach helps to optimise the finished musical and creative recording, at the same time removing any unknown factors that might adversely influence the recording sessions. Steinway will reserve the chosen instrument and make any fine adjustments necessary before delivery in order to meet with all the artist's requirements.

We have a comprehensive collection of the various instruments available recorded in our catalogue together with the instrument serial numbers. Comparisons can be made either at our studio or sample discs can be made available to help you with your choice.
